For the first day!

Proper care following your treatment is necessary to achieve the best results.

  • Please remember that the colour is up to 50% darker immediately after the treatment. It will start to become lighter after for to seven days. The true healed colour will not come through until approximately for to six weeks after the initial treatment. During the healing process, the colour will seem to have disappeared as it is obscured by the healing layers of skin. Under no circumstances should you have any further permanent cosmetics work undertaken during this for to six week period.
  • Ice packs protected with a cloth may be applied if a swelling occurs.
  • If you have had a lip treatment and suffer with cold sores (herpes simplex) presently (or at any time during your past), we suggest the use of anti-herpes medication which can be obtained from your Doctor or your local chemist and use as directed by them.

Daily aftercare routine

Follow this routine for at least one week following the treatment or until it has healed.

  • Always wash your hands before applying the balm provided to you as part of your aftercare.
  • Apply the balm a minimum of 4 times daily. You should do this using a clean micro brush or cotton pad for each application (this will help prevent infection).
  • We recommend a gentle face cleanser or wipe for the rest of your face during this time.
  • Keep the area completely dry during the healing process. If the area gets wet, gently pat away using a clean, lint free tissue. Do not rub.
  • Keep hair away from the treated area(s) to prevent infection.

Important “do nots”

During this healing period, you also need to look after the treatment area in other ways.

  • Some itching is normal. Do not pick, peel or scratch the treatment areas, always allow the treated area to flake on its own, or this may result in the colour healing unevenly and you also risk scarring and / or infection. If you have had a lip treatment the area may seem dry and flaky for approximately one week after the treatment.
  • Do not apply make up until 72 hours after the treatment. If you have had an eye treatment, use a new mascara.
  • Do not expose the area to extreme heat, cold or moisture for two weeks following your treatment. This can include direct sunlight, tanning beds, jacuzzi’s, saunas or steam rooms, salt water, chlorinate pools, direct shower spray, hot water, fake tan, skin creams and ointments other than what you have been instructed to use.
  • Do not apply petroleum type ointments to the area for a week after the treatment. After this time ointments of this type can be applied and are recommended if you plan to use chlorinated pools or jacuzzi’s.
  • Do not take part in any strenuous activity which could result in perspiration.
  • If you have had a lip treatment you should avoid eating spicy and salty foods and we recommend drinking through a straw and refrain from kissing!
  • Avoid all hair removal and tinting treatments for 2 weeks after the treatment.

Two to five days after the appointment

  • You may experience some swelling and redness, tenderness, flaking, dryness and / or itchiness in the treated area, eye lashes may stick together, and eyelids appear puffy for two to five days following your treatment.
  • Everyone is different, but generally the surface skin generally heals between 3-7 days after the treatment, and 10 – 14 days below the surface. Many people will return to work the same day after a treatment.
  • If you are feeling less than 100% healthy at the time of your treatment you may take longer to heal, and symptoms appear more prominent.

Long Term Care

  • In order to keep your permanent cosmetics in perfect condition it may be necessary to have a maintenance colour boost treatment every 12 to 18 months, though this does vary for each individual.
  • To avoid pigment fade for as long as possible, avoid excessive exposure to the sun or UV rays and use a high factor over treated area.
  • Take care when using moisturisers or other skin products which contain glycolic or fruity acids as these can fade permanent makeup.
  • If you are planning an MRI scan, chemical peel or any other similar procedure please inform your doctor or practitioner that you have had permanent cosmetics.
  • You may not be able to give blood for four to six months post treatment, speak to the National Blood Service and inform them of your treatment (and the date it was carried out) for further advice.
  • If you are planning to have anti-ageing injectables or cosmetic surgery, remember these procedures can alter the shape of your lips an eyebrow.
  • Laser hair removal can fade and change the shape of your lips or brow treatment, always adviser your laser practitioner you are wearing permanent cosmetics and they can act accordingly.
